Dame Emma Thompson shares moving moment with mum and daughter in three-generation red carpet appearance

It was a multi-generational family affair on the red carpet this week, as Dame Emma Thompson made a rare appearance with no fewer than three members of her family. For the UK premiere of her latest film, Dead of Winter, Dame Emma arrived with her husband Greg Wise, daughter, Gaia Wise, and mother Phyllida Law.

Smiling with her mum and daughter, Dame Emma shared a sweet moment as the trio were snapped by the paparazzi. Dame Emma held her mum Phyllida's hands while her daughter, Gaia, kissed her grandmother's cheek. Greg also joined his wife and daughter for some sweet snaps, and the family were photographed laughing together at the event.

For the occasion, Emma wore a three piece white suit featuring delicate floral embroidery, while Gaia chose a strapless LBD with a full, A-line skirt. Meanwhile, Greg kept things cool and casual, opting for jeans, trainers and an abstract print jacket over a traditional suit.

The group were at London's Picturehouse Central for the premiere of Dead of Winter, which stars Emma Thompson as 'a woman, travelling alone through snowbound northern Minnesota,' who 'interrupts the kidnapping of a teenage girl,' explains the synopsis. 'Hours from the nearest town and with no phone service, she realises that she is the young girl's only hope.'

Dame Emma's 25-year-old daughter Emma also has a role in the film, starring as the younger version of her mum's character - presumably as part of flashback scenes revealing more about the intriguing protagonist.

Dead of Winter is in cinemas from 26 September.
