Heads up, Thursday Murder Club fans! There’s a first class detective drama coming soon to U&Drama - and it’s another brilliant whodunnit that’ll surprise you. Harry Wild has an even more unexpected pairing than we’re used to in some of our favourite sleuth shows, as it finds Harry (played by Jane Seymour) partnering up to solve crimes with someone who wronged her... yes, really.
Harry Wild follows the namesake detective Harriet “Harry” Wild - a retired literature professor who just can’t help getting involved in some of her Dublin policeman son’s murder cases (especially not when there’s a literary connection to be made!). But, funnily enough, it’s not Harry and her son who end up pairing up - instead, she partners up with none other than a teenager who mugs her. Intrigued? All 4 series are coming soon to U&Drama’s streaming service very soon, so you can get stuck in!
While we wait for Harry Wild to arrive on our screens, here’s everything you need to know about the series, including the plot, cast and how to watch it.
What to read next
What is Harry Wild about?
This Dublin-set drama follows Harriet “Harry” Wild (played by Jane Seymour), a retired professor of literature. But that retirement doesn’t involve clearing out the attic or gardening. She gets mugged, causing her to move in with her detective son Charlie (Kevin Ryan) in Dublin - and she finds it impossible to stop dabbling in his investigations. When she does track down her mugger - instead of turning him in, she enlists him as her sidekick after noticing his potential - and together they work on solving an even bigger crime.
Series 2 finds Harry formally partnering up with Fergus Reid (Rohan Nedd), the teenager who mugged her, and they continue their detective escapades. Together, they look into a case that strikes a little closer to home, as Fergus’s estranged mother mysteriously reappears - and they pair are keen to understand why she’s suddenly returned.
In the third instalment, Harry and Fergus are busy growing their agency, while tackling some slightly leftfield cases, including why an Irish boyband’s lead singer didn’t die by suicide, and the murder of a soap opera director. Meanwhile, Fergus continues to grapple with personal matters at home, with a custody battle in his mind’s eye.
The drama continues in series 4, during which Harry and Fergus’s investigative work becomes even more high-stakes, as they’re tasked with solving some puzzling new murders. The pair travel to locations far and wide - a convent and the races, to be precise, as suspicious circumstances lead them to new territories.
Excitingly, Acorn TV has also announced a fifth series of the hit show, of which they reveal: “Harry is back with her most sensational and thrilling ride yet, including murder mysteries in the world of whiskey-making, theatre and musical-tattoos, not to mention a gang of middle-aged lady burglars and a murder close to home.”

Is Harry Wild any good?
Yes - when it first aired in 2022, it was Acorn TV’s most successful launch that year and we're not surprised. The drama has a cosy crime feel, and the cheeky wit of Jane Seymour as the titular Harry Wild makes it endlessly watchable.
