The stars are now floating along Venice's waterways as this year's sparkling film festival officially gets underway. Among the Hollywood icons hitting the water - and the red carpet - so far was Cate Blanchett, who looked stunning in a sweeping floor-length gown.
Stepping out for the opening night of the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday (27 August), Cate opted for the ultimate LBD (little black dress) with a sleeveless gown by Amani Prive. The mermaid tail dress sweeps up to a statement fold around the hips to create a strong silhouette, which also doubles as the essential addition to any woman's outfit - pockets! And of course, the plunging geometric neckline makes it a real standout.
If Cate's dress looked familiar, that's because she's worn it to another red carpet before. Three years ago, Cate arrived at the 2022 Screen Actor's Guild Awards wearing the same look. The star is known for recycling her statement pieces, wearing a number of stunning gowns to multiple events over the years.

For example, Cate wore a custom Louis Vuitton dress of draped, sparkling gold fabric with split sleeves at Cannes in 2024. At the Golden Globes earlier this year, the Hollywood icon shimmered down the red carpet in the same piece. And, in 2022, Cate wore her frothy Alexander McQueen dress-come-blazer which she'd chosen to wear to Venice two years previously.
In fact, there are plenty more examples of Cate reviving previously worn pieces. This is a move which her stylist Elizabeth Stewart has said can be more environmentally conscious and meaningful than only wearing brand new pieces and retiring them after a single wear.
