Davina McCall has opened up for the first time on some of the more emotional details associated with her recent surgery to remove a brain tumour.
Speaking on Steven Bartlett's podcast, Begin Again, Davina explained how she prepared in case the surgery didn't go well, as there were risks associated with the procedure.
“When I'd spoken to the doctors, they talked about things like stroke, epilepsy, these being risks. Nicking an artery or a blood vessel in the brain and having a bleed… so there were a lot of things that could be a risk. And obviously, because of my age, you know, I'm fifty-seven. That was another thing that mattered to me," she said. “I said, ‘Look, I've got to plan for it if it doesn't go according to plan'".

Davina shared how she spoke to her partner Michael Douglas to make sure practical arrangements were made for her children, including a sentimental gesture just in case the worst did happen.
"I did go and address my will and make sure that was airtight. I talked to Michael about my wishes," she said, adding, "I wrote letters of wishes to all the children, and put those in my will.”
Davina added that she put her trust in her neurosurgeon Kevin O'Neill and went to sleep the night before thinking, "‘Everything will be okay, whatever happens.’ And it felt... it felt like I'd climbed a mountain, but it was a good mountain to climb," adding that she felt at peace.
