From smoke-breathing dragons to Toniebox 2, the must-have toys this Christmas, according to kids
“I love the smell, the accessories, being able to mix it myself. I just love slime!”
Which toys did you circle hopefully in the Argos catalogue growing up? Whether you went to sleep on Christmas Eve dreaming of a Mr Frosty, an A La Carte Kitchen, the Barbie Dreamhouse or the Star Wars Millennium Falcon, kids are always guaranteed to have their (sticky) fingers on the pulse when it comes to the viral toy of the season.
So, to find out which toys are the must-haves for 2025, we decided to go straight to the experts. We asked a panel of kids to play with all the toys predicted to be top-sellers this year, and tell us what they really thought. We wanted brutal honesty and we got it.
In a hurry to get shopping? These are the best Christmas toys at a glance but keep scrolling for all the detail.
The best toys for Christmas 2025
To find the must-have toys, we first spoke to a panel of toy buyers from Argos, Hamleys and Selfridges to get their tips on the biggest trends this year. We then honed this down to our absolute favourites and sent them out to a panel of children to test for a week, before asking them and their parents for detailed feedback. You'll find the toy buyers' recommendations and a fully breakdown of how we test below our reviews.
As always, we’ll be keeping this article up to date as we get closer to the big day and as more trends and toys start to emerge – just call us Father Christmas.
