Christmas cake decoration: golden wreath
This versatile wreath decoration can be lifted off the cake and used again

- 20
cm (8in) round fruit cake
- 1 Tbsp.
smooth apricot jam
- 400 g
pack ready-rolled marzipan
- 450 g
pack ready-rolled white icing

Ribbon for tying
Gold and red mini baubles
20.5cm gold wreath
Florist's wire
Icing gold star on wire x 10
Directions
- Step 1
Put cake on a serving plate. Spread top with the jam. Unroll marzipan and brush with water. Unroll white icing and press gently on to the marzipan to stick. Cut out a 20.5cm (8in) circle and put on top of the cake, icing-side up. Tie ribbon around the base.
- Step 2
Tie baubles on to the wreath using wire, then wrap on the stars. Lay wreath on top of cake to finish. Store in a cool place for up to two weeks.

Use real twigs
If you can't find a gold wreath, tie real twigs into a ring using wire.
