There's something very nostalgic and comforting about the taste of Maltesers, so we've elevated a classic hot chocolate recipe by adding in malt powder, and a splash of Irish cream to give it a warming boozy kick (but feel free to omit if you aren't keen on the booze).

Ingredients
100g
dark chocolate, finely chopped
700ml
milk
75g
malt powder, we used Horlicks
40g
caster sugar
100ml
Irish cream liqueur
aerosol cream (optional)
Belgian chocolate sauce to drizzle (optional)

Malteser chocolates (optional)
Directions
Step 1Put chocolate, milk, malt powder and sugar in a medium pan, then slowly heat mixture over low heat, whisking frequently, until the chocolate has completely melted and the malt powder and sugar have dissolved. Increase heat to high until the liquid is just beginning to boil.
Step 2Remove from heat and whisk in the liqueur. Divide between 4 mugs and top each with whipped cream, chocolate sauce and a Malteser piece, if using. Serve.
