We’re calling it – brown trainers are the everyday shoe for autumn. We found the best, starting from £40

Great news for anyone who suits the colour brown: this is your season! Everything is coming up chocolate, mocha, tan, honey and burnt caramel, and we're not talking about food, we're talking about pretty much all things fashion and style from bags to coats, knits to jackets.

Here though, we are zoning in on the items we will be wearing most throughout the autumn - stylish, comfortable, everyday sneakers. And to put no finer point on it, because just about every brand we love has created a chic brown sneaker. From Miu Miu to Chloé, not to mention all the great high street retailers, we think its the main contender for shoe of the year.

But here's a bit of background. For Spring/Summer 2024, Miuccia Prada released an updated brown pair of New Balance 530s as part of their ongoing collaboration with the brand. Fast forward to now, and the brown trainer has cemented itself as the footwear of choice for autumn 2025, and plenty of retailers have released chocolate toned trainers that bear a striking resemblance to designer counterparts.

New Look, for instance, has a brilliant pair of stylish brown trainers that look exactly like the Miu Miu originals, featuring identical white laces that contrast nicely with the split cow suede upper. The only major difference? The price: these come in at a surprisingly affordable £40.

Elsewhere, & Other Stories has created a version of brown trainers that look identical to a pair from boho-chic label Chloé. With the same quilted material and rich caramel hue, these trainers look effortlessly chic when styled with autumn wardrobe staples. Think washed black jeans and a lightweight trench coat, or a satin midi skirt paired with a cropped utility jacket (M&S has some great military style jackets). As for accessories, go for a suede tote in a similar brown tone, or keep it chic with a black leather mini bag.

Of course, the brown trainer trend doesn’t stop at designer lookalikes. There are plenty of other stylish options to choose from, including COS' stylish Minimalist Trainers, Arket's sporty dark brown trainers and H&M's brown runners which feature a fold down heel tab. And there's plenty more where they came from.
