Wow! I’ve just seen M&S’s new collection and it has every expensive-looking key piece you need now
M&S Autograph celebrates 25 years with luxurious style classics
I have an undying love for M&S, and, right now, I am seriously impressed. M&S has just launched their Autograph collection in celebration of its 25-year anniversary, and it's full of instant fashion classics for the new season.
Known for designer inspired wardrobe staples that look more expensive than their price tag would suggest, the new collection has some of the chicest, high quality clothes we’ve seen for a long time, many made from suede and silk and at prices that won't break the bank.
Launched just yesterday - as in, click through for the best pieces to consider now - the collection includes a tie-waist white blazer (a nod to Swedish designer brand Totême), a pleated tan maxi skirt inspired by Prada, and a sheer silk shirt alongside a soft round-neck knit in dreamy baby blue. The latter shade, spotted on the Chanel runways, looks set to be the pastel of the season.
Meanwhile, if you have a soft spot for a grab and go everyday jacket, consider snapping up their brilliant leather bomber jacket or their tan, wool blend crop utility jacket with two front pockets, a piece you'll be able to incorporate to your style for instant everyday use now. Both jackets are designed to look great with a pair of high waist jeans, or the easy wide-leg black silk trousers that are featured in the collection, and shared in our edit below.
If, like me, you're and starting to look for a new coat, the shaggy faux fur number in Autograph’s new range is as practical as it is stylish thanks to its thick, long-haired style and concealed popper fastening, and will definitely keep you warm once the mercury starts to drop.
As for Autograph's accessories, their brown suede tote bag with black leather contrasting handles and piping bears a striking resemblance to Prada’s cult favourite Bonnie Bag, minus the subtle buckle detailing, and £2,000 price tag.
But my favourite pieces in the collection come in twos. The matching dark denim shirt and jeans (also known as a Canadian Tuxedo), and the snake-skin print trouser suit, are some of the most versatile and stylish sets I’ve ever seen. Worn together, they make a statement, but they’re just as strong as separates. The denim shirt works well with tailored trousers, the flared jeans flatter a blouse, the snakeskin jacket adds edge to a satin maxi dress, and the trousers pair perfectly with a classic waistcoat.
I predict all will be instant sell-outs.
