London Calling! Boden’s new collection will bring pure British creativity to your style
These 18 Boden pieces are your first-class ticket to autumn style
When we thought Boden couldn’t get any better, along comes their new collection and September suddenly feels more fun to dress for.
The mood for Boden right now is Iconic British, which is fitting, because this business has become exactly that. An unapologetic purveyor of modern good quality British style, with originality as standard.
The style is equal parts bold, quirky, uplifting and cosy, and inspired by London It girls, a dash of royal style, and weekends in the Scottish Highlands.
Almost every single piece in this mini collection is an iteration of a Boden bestselling style, or beloved print. This is a very clever strategy. If it ain't broke and all that. But also... familiarity.
If you already know you suit Boden’s belted shirt dress, then it's an easy decision to choose the Clara cord midi shirt dress, which, in this range, comes in their famous "Ornate Meadow" print, as well as in cherry red corduroy and a delicious emerald green hand-crafted with embroidery details . Decision, decisions!
If you're already a fan of their trouser suits, then considering their rather brilliant navy, green and red checked Rupert the Bear, (or is it Diane Keaton in Annie Hall?) inspired version - the Stamford blazer and Belgravia trouser - might be a leap, but it's a confident one, and one I shall be making myself, I love this checked suit that much.
The Stamford jacket and Belgravia trousers also come in coloured corduroy from purple to red, rustic orange and navy, making for more playful suiting combination. But the Stamford blazer is, to my mind, one of the best standalone buys you can make from this collection for its sheer usefulness, versatility and longevity.
No Boden collection for autumn would be complete without a brilliant head-turning colourful yet chic jumper, and my edit below features not one, but three, and a bonus tartan boyfriend cardigan. Not forgetting the evergreen popularity of their button-up reversible gilet, which now comes in pink or tan cord, lined with cream shearling, or in navy cord lined with animal print shearling.
What's new here is that Boden are offering a range of shorter dresses too, from an above the knee cord button through shirt dress, a dogtooth a-line shift dress (there's a matching swing jacket, the Knightsbridge modeled here by stylist Sara Buys, former daughter in law of Queen Camilla), and cute shift dresses inspired by the swinging sixties.
Finally, their shoe edit features a Mary-Jane shoe in a spot-on slimline shape and an excellent shade of either oxblood, or a dogtooth to match the Knightbridge swing jacket, and both of them which will look pretty much perfect with everything shared above, and below!
