The best short pyjama sets for floating around at home (and a good night’s sleep)

Yesterday, Marks & Spencer launched a gorgeous range of pyjamas with Olivia Von Halle, the sleepwear guru beloved of the A-list. Within minutes, one style had entirely sold out: a glamorous pale pink short pyjama set dotted with black cats.

Short pyjamas? Who knew? Until yesterday, I’d never given this humble little nightwear set more than a second of my headspace. The more I thought about it, though, the more I understood why stylish short pyjamas are a thing.

The art of transitioning from a busy day into a relaxed evening and then – Holy Grail – a restful night’s sleep needs a rethink once winter ends. In spring there are nicer things to do around the house than snuggle under a blanket in front of the TV. To want to pull on a pair of short pyjamas when you get home that are stylish enough to answer the door while wearing, and light enough to sleep in, makes total sense.

‘Putting on beautiful pyjamas is a mood shift,’ agrees Lucy Osborne from pyjama brand Eberjey, who’s seen the popularity of short PJ sets soar over the past two weeks. ‘Pyjamas have had such a luxury glow-up. People wear them to express their style at home and treat putting them on as a calming ritual, but one that’s also elegant and put-together.’

So there you have it: all you need for a stylish spring evening at home is a pair of short pyjamas. How easy is that?
