There's a ritual in my house that takes place every year. A couple months after Halloween, I always find a stash of leftover, uneaten Halloween candy. Sometimes, it's on top of the fridge. Sometimes, it's in a dark corner of a cabinet. It's like my own, personal Easter egg hunt, only the results are a lot more disgusting.

Maybe it would be better if so much candy didn't make it into my house to begin with. For those who want to drop out of the cycle of candy acquisition and rejection, these are the best non-candy Halloween treats to give out this year. They still celebrate the spirit of the season, but they give excited kids a break from the candy. Pass these out at class parties, in boo bags or spooky baskets, at trunk-or-treats, and you'll find happy trick-or-treaters.
