Third wheeling is never fun, but thankfully our trio Halloween costumes allow everyone to shine and feel included. Plus, they’re pretty easy to execute (and way more fun than getting solo).
Whether you’re a family dressing up together, a trio of best friends, or simply need inspiration that can apply to a larger group, we’ve got just the looks you need. There are popular girl groups like TLC or Destiny’s Child, delightful food pairings (s’mores anyone?), and of course TV show and movie leads, like The Powerpuff Girls and the Sanderson sisters from Disney’s Hocus Pocus.
Beanie Babies (DIY)
Transport back to the 90s with these costumes that channel the Beanie Baby craze. Grab your favorite sweatsuits then DIY some accessories to bring it all together.
Get the look: Cut ears from felt and attach them to a hoodie using hot glue. Craft a heart-shaped tag from red cardstock. Punch a hole and tie around your neck using red ribbon. For an extra authentic look, cover the tag in clear contact paper so it doesn’t lose value (wink wink!).
Gilmore Girls
If you still can't get enough of the 200s dramedy Gilmore Girls, dress up as your favorites from Stars Hollow.
Severance
Your innie deserves to take a walk in the real world. The best part about dressing as these Severance characters is that you can basically rely on your current in-office wardrobe.
Abbott Elementary
Gather your girl group and dress up as your favorite teachers from Abbott Elementary. Select the character that best matches your personality and prepare for a night full of comedic antics.
Martini Trio (DIY)
Few things are better than a girls night out and this martini flight fits right into that theme.
Get the look: Take a thin clear acrylic sheet, sized 24.5” x 48.5” and trace the outline of a rainbow-like shape onto it. You should get a cone-like shape. Paint a thin coat on the plastic, leaving the top 5 inches unpainted. This unpainted section will give the illusion of liquid inside. Allow the paint to dry completely before proceeding.
When worn wrap the plastic cone loosely around your neck and attach a velcro strap to the overlapping section in the back to keep together.
To create an olive cocktail pick, blow up two small green balloons. Cut out two small red circles out of felt and attach them to the top side of the balloons to make them look like stuffed olives. Then, tie the balloons around a dowel.
To create espresso beans, you will need floral foam rectangles. Using a serrated knife, carve the foam into a bean shape. Create a deeper groove down the center of the foam bean to mimic the natural split on espresso beans. Wipe the dust off using a paper towel (rub a little harder than your normally would to smooth out any rough lines). Paint with a brown acrylic paint and let dry completely. Attach the beans to a headband with hot glue.
Lip Smackers
Sure, they were released in the '70s, but no one lived for these lip balms like '90s babies.
Get the look: Use iron on transfer paper to add the Lip Smaker logo to a simple cotton dress. Create the cap headpiece with a clear plastic bucket. Simply remove the handle and replace it with a piece of elastic to secure on your head. Pop on some extra lip gloss, jelly sandals and a scrunchie for a totally 90s look.
Tenniscore
The Challengers inspired us to pick up a racket and take a swing. In fact, the tenniscore trend apparently grew by 18% over the last summer. Luckily, recreating this trendy look with your crew is easy.
